The use of candle magic dates all the way back to the Palaeolithic era, making candle magic one of the oldest forms of magic known to man. In this chapter I want to provide you with a look at several ways candles are being used for magic.
In the Wiccan religion candles are used to represent the god and goddess, or the general Wiccan male and female superior deities. The candles can also be carved to represent the male and female superior dieties. Of course, they can remain un-carved and have the same meaning.
Candles are also used to mark the four corners of a circle, which is very significant and necessary when performing more complex spells. They are also used in circles to represent the sacred triangle, which is used to call upon the god and goddess.
Candles can be used to represent a number of things, including people, places, objects, or the desire that you are attempting to manifest.
Candles can also be used as a tool to repel evil.
It's no secret that superstitions are a part of life. It should come as no surprise to you that there are superstitions regarding the use of candles. The list below represents a handful of the more common superstitions you may hear in regards to candles.
* When a candles flame curls or spirals upwards it means that your enemies are plotting against you.
* If you have difficulties in lighting a candle then it means a storm is on the horizon.
* Lighting two candles with a taper is sure to bring bad luck.
* When a candles flame is tall with straight flames then you should expect a visit from a stranger.
* If a candles flame is leaning to one side then you’re going to be traveling very soon.
* If a candles flame is accidentally extinguished then you better start planning to attend a wedding because one will be happening rather soon.
* If a candles flame sputters then you can expect to be disappointed.
